AI agents for the everyday work of housing and healthcare: leasing, resident communications, maintenance, and patient administration.
Housing and healthcare depend on getting timely answers to everyday questions. In our August 2025 investment memo, we described EliseAI’s opportunity to bring responsive, round-the-clock assistance to both industries. We led the company’s Series E.
EliseAI grew from email and text support for leasing into a platform for calls, tours, maintenance, billing, and renewals. The same communication and staffing challenges recur in healthcare. Our thesis centered on AI that fits these operational workflows, supported by founders building an engineering-led company around essential services.
Software engineers Minna Song and Tony Stoyanov started the company to address communication problems in multifamily housing. Their backgrounds were in computer science at MIT and Cambridge, respectively.

EliseAI describes an in-person culture, with offices listed in New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, and Austin. Check individual roles for their location requirements.
Engineer Ellen Chen describes receiving a Move-In checklist task during onboarding, then taking it through the user flow, implementation, testing, and a pull request that evening. Her account presents a demanding pace and immediate ownership.

Zac Gottschall recounts a lease-audit agent whose polished first output hid OCR and reasoning failures. The team used an evaluation set to expose the gaps and spent weeks fixing them before trusting the system on new data.
Engineering work means learning the details of property operations: moving an appliance can require two technicians, and repairing a wall can take several visits. The team’s hiring essay stresses talking to customers and reading the real documents.
For lease-audit ingestion, the team built a sandboxed agent that extracts information and writes parsing scripts for the files it encounters. Gottschall contrasts this with maintaining a separate hand-built parser for every document format.
“Give feedback in real time — don’t wait for a 1:1. Focus on what happened, not who’s at fault.”

In a recruiting post, product team member Shruti Goli points to two expectations: comfort with messy real-world operations and designing for both technical and non-technical users.

In Chen’s onboarding account, lunch connects engineering, operations, go-to-market, and product. Colleagues also organize a coffee chat to explain team norms and work patterns beyond the onboarding documents.
Francesca Loftus describes Product Solutions as work spanning customer discovery, workflow design, rollout, and adoption. Team members own how a part of the product performs in practice, rather than only moving requests through a queue.

The Product Solutions team builds troubleshooting automation, dashboards, and internal playbooks. Its technical work connects what customers experience with what engineering needs to understand and improve.
“I spend 90% of my week building. That's what happens when your founders are software engineers — they get it.”
