Overview

Town is a personalized AI assistant that learns how you work across the tools you already use — email, calendar, Slack, docs, WhatsApp, desktop, and web — and starts pitching in without prompting or setup. Each user's assistant is called a Townie. It builds a persistent model of a person's voice, relationships, priorities, and routines, then takes action on their behalf. Town was founded by Jean-Denis Greze, formerly CTO of Plaid, and Tony Vincent, formerly of Google AI.

Why we invested

Two Dropbox alumni rebuilt their company around a bet that the moat in consumer AI is not the model and not the feature set — it is accumulated personal context, which no competitor can spin up overnight. We led the Series A in June 2026.

The memo's argument is that the category winner will not be whoever ships the most capability, but whoever earns enough trust to hold a user's context long enough for it to compound. Town shipped a product people were already passing around our own group chats before we ever ran a process.

Product story

2024
Founded as a tax company.

Jean-Denis Greze and Tony Vincent, friends and former Dropbox colleagues of over a decade, incorporate Standard Tax Company, Inc. in Delaware in 2024. The product pairs a dedicated human tax advisor with AI-driven document processing, data collection, and regulatory navigation, aimed at giving small businesses the tax advantages large corporations already have. First securities sale closes 15 November 2024; the round is announced publicly four months later, in March 2025. The tax product is the foundation the assistant is later built on, not a false start the company disowns.

How we work

Town careers

Ownership is the job.

Find the work, run through the walls, no excuses.

Let's gooooo.

Decide at 70%, not 90%. Most things are reversible — move, then correct.

Disagreement is good.

Debate hard, ego at the door. Hard on the problem, easy on the people.

Go deep.

Find the root cause, become the expert, fix it at the source.

Wow is the bar.

Every launch, every interaction should make people say 'I need to try this.'

In-person in San Francisco's Financial District, five days a week, with an NYC office.
