Vesta builds a mortgage loan origination system that combines a loan system of record, configurable workflows and AI agents. Lenders use it to coordinate work from application through funding.
In her January 2022 investment memo, Angela Strange argued that modernizing mortgages required rebuilding the core loan origination system. Vesta paired a new system of record with configurable workflows and open APIs so lenders could connect and automate the steps around it.
The thesis combined infrastructure and domain expertise: Mike Yu and Devon Yang had worked together at Blend, bringing experience in mortgage product development, engineering and selling to financial institutions. Strange saw an opportunity to make the process more transparent for borrowers and easier for lenders to improve.
After working together at Blend, Yu and Yang set out to replace the loan origination systems that lenders told them were holding back their operations.
