THE ROLE
We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to optimize the systems, processes, and material flow that enable high-rate manufacturing of advanced defense systems. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to improve throughput, reduce waste, and build scalable production processes.
This is a hands-on, data-driven role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex production problems and turning analysis into measurable improvements on the factory floor.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Analyze and optimize material flow, production layouts, and manufacturing processes to improve throughput and efficiency.
- Develop and refine production workflows to optimize the use of materials, labor, equipment, and factory space.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase production capacity.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain production KPIs and performance metrics to measure operational efficiency.
- Support capacity planning, workforce planning, line balancing, and resource allocation to meet production targets.
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure new products and design changes are optimized for manufacturability.
- Identify root causes of production and quality issues and develop practical corrective actions.
- Support factory layout, line design, workstation optimization, and material handling initiatives.
- Develop standard work and process improvements that enable consistent, repeatable production.
- Work cross-functionally to implement and measure continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide training and support on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, problem-solving, and data analysis methodologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related production environment.
- Strong understanding of material flow, production planning, workflow optimization, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using tools such as Excel, Minitab, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing production metrics, KPIs, and analytical models.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Dallas, TX.
- This position requires access to ITAR-controlled technology and technical data, which necessitates that the candidate be a U.S. person under federal export control laws
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other complex manufacturing environments.
- Experience with high-mix, low-volume or high-rate production environments.
- Experience with factory layout, line balancing, take time, capacity modeling, and time studies.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems, ERP/MRP, MES, or production planning tools.
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and production scale-up.
- Experience with simulation, statistical analysis, or manufacturing optimization software.
- Experience working in a high-growth manufacturing organization or startup environment.
