It’s the most popular open source solution in its category, with ~80k+ stars (as of Oct 2025) and far ahead of other inference frameworks like SGLang (~10k), TGI (~5k), and LMDeploy (~4k). vLLM is used today in production at companies like Meta, Google, and Databricks. The team is still figuring out the product direction since it’s still so early, but is considering an inference observability play as an entry wedge. (December 2025)
